The United States of America and Turkey: diverting dynamics in a climate of mistrust. Quo vadis NATO?
HÉCTOR GUARRO MARZOA
Héctor Guarro is a graduate of the Double Degree in Law and Political Science and Administration at the Pontifical University of Comillas-ICAI-ICADE. His first contact with the world of debate took place when he was only 15 years old, when he was convinced to join a MUN on the other side of the world (MINUBA), being hooked from that moment. Among all his experience, he highlights: prize for the best delegation in the Security Council in SEKMUN 2010; Co-Chair at SEKMUN 2011; honorary mentions at MEU Granada 2012, UC3MUN 2013 and URJCMUN 2016; award for the best delegation in the Historical Security Council of URJCMUN 2015, Co-Chair in UC3MUN 2016, Organizer of the 1st and 2nd edition of MiMUN (2015), Vice-president of the Commission in SICODI I (2017), participant in the MMXVI edition of WORLDMUN and President at SIPAC 2017, keeping very good memories of all its models. He has also been a finalist and winner of the 2011 and 2012 editions of the UNIJES debate tournament. He hopes that with the experience gained in the last edition he can contribute to make this edition of UC3MUN a rich and entertaining experience for all the participants.
His name is Jan Fleischmann and he is going to be one of your chairs in the NATO committee. Born and raised in Germany, he is currently studying law at Freie UniversitätBerlin in his fourth year, but last academic year he took a year abroad as an ERASMUS student at the University of Birmingham. The major area which he is focused on is the internationalisation of the legal system. Since his first MUN in Germany he has partaken in numerous conferences all across the European continent in different positions and enjoyed to have been able to experience this very intriguing format of debating from various perspectives. As a chair, UC3MUN 2018 will be his sixth experience. He encourages you all to get to know all your fellow delegates (and chairs!) and keep in touch after the conference; you’ll never know where you will meet again!
